Cost-effective, sustainable and responsible extraction routes
for recovering distinct critical metals and industrial minerals
as by-products from key European hard-rock lithium projects

Dipl.-Ing. (Chem) Carsten Dittrich is a metallurgist and chemical engineer with over 20 years of experience in the operations of hydrometallurgical plants and the design. He has designed solvent extraction plants embracing mixer settler units for a wide range of metals. He has been involved in metal winning processes including precipitation, electrowinning and hydrogen reduction. Metals in his area of expertise include cobalt, copper, gallium, manganese, nickel, vanadium, scandium, zinc and the platinum group metals. He is a technology manager of the hydrometallurgical research department within MEAB. While the front end will embrace some of the classical concentration and chemical treatment steps, key to delivering on the purity constraints will be the use of ion exchange technologies to remove final impurities and deliver a high-grade lithium eluate.
