Cost-effective, sustainable and responsible extraction routes
for recovering distinct critical metals and industrial minerals
as by-products from key European hard-rock lithium projects

Dr. Sanna Uusitalo did her thesis in Optoelectronics and measurement technologies research group at University of Oulu, Finland. She is a senior research scientist and works as a project manager at VTT’s Optical measurements team. Her research interests include different optical measurement technologies. She has managed the research on a variety of EU and national projects focusing on applications in absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Lidar imaging and ranging as well as fluorescence detection. The subject of her dissertation was surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy for detection of microbe cells. She has continued her research with Raman spectroscopy in projects focusing in mineralogical analysis of raw materials. She has taken part in 18 peer-reviewed papers.
