Tiina Lavonen

Tiina Lavonen (Radiochemistry, MSc, 2012) works as Research Scientist in Nuclear Waste Management team at VTT. She has over 10 years of experience of analytical and radiochemistry, including development of alpha nuclide separation and analytical methods, instruments for analyzing radionuclides and radioactivity (alpha, beta, and gamma) and elemental analyses with ICP-OES, ICP-SF-MS and IC. She has also worked with nuclear waste management research subject including dissolution experiments of UO₂ and ThO₂ in simulated final disposal conditions, decommissioning waste radionuclide release and fusion waste management. Tiina has also Finnish radiation and nuclear safety authority permission to serve as radiation safety expert.
